Ask the firemen for a guided tour - they will help if they are not too busy! And will happily show their trucks to kids. show more

Flo's is a great place to hit Saturday or Sunday morning for a little hangover recovery. Its kid friendly, has great food, and is by far the most reasonable priced place in the neighborhood. They have also been very hospitable to our little guy. show more

Trattoria Nervosa is a great place to go for some terrific pizza and people watching. I was there recently and was delighted by how good the pizza and salad I had were. You can tell it's an authentic Italian chef. Yummm. show more

A great little bookstore with all kinds of interesting and alternative books. It reminds me a bit of pages - but this location in Kensington is much smaller. When your in the mood for browsing books I would highly recommend it. show more

Daybreak has phenomenal brunch in portions that are, in my opinion, unreasonably large. Almost every order comes with a side of pancakes which is not indicated on the menu. The food is hot, delicious, fast. Be prepared to wait up to 30 minutes on a weekend. The benedicts come in 3s with a side of hashbrowns, and pancakes! show more

What happens when one pint is just not enough good times, but two pints makes you speak a little too loudly for civilized company? Enter the reasonably-priced and acceptably-intoxicating mini-pitcher. It's juuuust right. show more

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. We left this place very satisfied. We couldn't order any alcohol because (this was September 23rd, 2011) they were in the middle of renewing their liquor license. show more

This cafe is awesome! I have only been there three times and they already know our names. They are very welcoming and personalise your order. All beverages are made to order by the barristas/owners, Tony and Elaine, who offer a smile and a chat while you wait. The vegan baked goods are exceptionally tasty and moderately priced.Love this place! show more

We were regulars here for years back when it was two crowded fluorescent rooms down a steep set of steps from streetlevel. It was cozy and could only be found by those who knew it was there. The dumplings are all handmade, steamed or boiled, with various meats or vegetarian. Handmade noodles with beef so homey I could cry with nostalgia. House-made kimchi and green onion pancakes also favourites. But since they moved to Spadina (s. of College), well, it just hasn't been the same. I'm sure the food tastes the same, but, well, the atmosphere is half the reason we went so frequently. Their dining room is much bigger, much airier, filled with far more students and tourists. C'est la vie. show more
