The renovation is spectacular and the Thomson collection is amazing. What a debt Canadians owe Mr. Thomson for his passion, foresight and generosity to create this wonderful collection.

If you're looking for food, Culinarium stocks only food from Ontario. They have all kinds of fancy-pants stuff. Me, I like to give people Wellesley apple butter (which you can actually buy at any grocery store) because it is SO good and made from local apples.

Roots is one of the oldest Canadian clothing companies that really advertises that they are Canadian. They've been around since the 70s if I'm not mistaken and have specialized in casual wear such as track suits with beavers and canadian flag elements. They also make great leather bags/shoes that use nice leather are of simple design and well made. These items are high quality and very comfortable. In the last decade they've branched out into general casual wear. This stuff is cute - but doesn't carry the same proud canadian brand or super high quality. Still a great store. show more

It depends on the kind of gifts that you want. You can find different souvenirs, most of them cheap, like those mini CN Towers, on Yonge street, from Dundas to Wellesley, for example, and also on Spadina, between Dundas and College (it's sometimes cheaper than Yonge St.). show more

I did the math and bought a membership, since it is paid for after 3 visits. The family membership allows for entrance of up to 4 kids (age 17 and under) with each adult member, so you can take your kids' friends (or your friends' kids) along w/o an extra cost. show more

You've got to be very funky to go down into the dungeon on Saturday nights. Dress-code for women: the shorter the skirt and the higher the heels, the better; 70 & 80-ies are back! For men: pastel colored shorts, button down shirt, boat shoes and trendy glasses. show more

A little upscale for everyday, but a nice spot to enjoy the sun going down apres- work. They also support a lot of community building initiatives and have host kid party every so often.
