What are some good spots for visitors and newcomers to the city?

Unless you're a scaredy-cat, the tower is worth seeing at least once in your life. The only other time most people get this high is in airplanes. ;-)

The renovation is spectacular and the Thomson collection is amazing. What a debt Canadians owe Mr. Thomson for his passion, foresight and generosity to create this wonderful collection.

Uncovering dinosaur bones gives mom 20 free minutes. My 3 year old loves the interactive displays in the animal area. Great cafeteria.

From the amazing exterior architecture (as evidenced by the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal) to the dinosaurs, mummys, and tons of other stuff inside (making it one of the largest museums in North America), this place will keep you busy for hours or days.

There's a lot to say about the Drake. One notable thing, since most eateries close a little on the early side in Toronto, is their 24-hour restaurant.

You've got to be very funky to go down into the dungeon on Saturday nights. Dress-code for women: the shorter the skirt and the higher the heels, the better; 70 & 80-ies are back! For men: pastel colored shorts, button down shirt, boat shoes and trendy glasses. show more

A little upscale for everyday, but a nice spot to enjoy the sun going down apres- work. They also support a lot of community building initiatives and have host kid party every so often.

Great place to support local food producers. A better way to spend some of your grocery money.

This place has amazing croissants. The best. This is the second location, the first is on Yonge street. They have salads and sandwiches... delicious desserts. This place is not to be missed.

Historical fact: named for the site's former use as a WWII training site by the Norwegian Air Force! Right next to the channel separating the mainland from the island airport. Steps from the airport ferry dock. I believe its the world's shortest ferry ride.

Remarkable totem pole in a lovely park near the lake; good western point to begin a walk east along the waterfront.

Some Second Cups are better than others. I particularly like and recommend this one. I don't know if it's the staff, the environment... maybe it's just the energy.

It's a beautiful place, filled with examples of architecture from Toronto's bygone days.
