We love the fish and we always shop on Saturday around 3 pm. The market is closed on Sunday and Monday so at this point the fish guys are giving away tons of free fish with every purchase. We go for a salmon steak and come home with free crab cakes and lobster tails! show more

Mmm they serve good espresso. You'd think there would be more good espresso places near St. Lawrence Market, it being a food magnet, but it turns out this is one of the few coffee spots nearby. show more

Get there by 11am or after 1:30pm to avoid brunch crowd on weekend. Irish Breakfast comes with baked beans, ham, home fries, soda bread: very filling. Blueberry pancakes are massive, come in threes, and use wild blueberries; delicious. show more

I think Ematei is the most authentic, most delicious Japanese izakaya (restaurant-bar) in Toronto. When you walk inside, it's like you've travelled to Japan. All the staff speak Japanese and the menu is filled with items you'd find at a restaurant in Japan. I lived in Japan for four years, so Ematei has become my refuge for when I'm missing Japanese life. show more

Huevos rancheros at brunch with real corn bread. Fruit with yogurt and granola is enormous. At dinner time, come around 7:50pm and the place will clear out when everyone goes to a show or concert (Canon Theatre is across the street, Massey Hall is down the block). show more
