This is your classic family restaurant/sports bar hybrid. The menu is not entirely memorable (she says, having tried and failed to remember what's on it) but the food is satisfactory. There's a decent kid's menu but the kid food is pretty much all frozen/packaged stuff - I cook better food at home. show more
I have nothing to say about Hodgson as a school (my kids are far too young) but I'm posting it because it's our local outdoor rink. Outdoor rinks might be an endangered species due to climate change, but you can enjoy a free fresh-air skate here for the next few years, anyway. Open December to March, weather permitting. You can also take skating lessons here through the city. show more
This is one of my favorite restaurants around Yonge and Eglinton. It's not somewhere I'd go every day because it's pretty pricey (fixed $35 for dinner) but it's just great. It's a brazilian-style dining experience where waiters bring around freshly made food on platters and you take what you like. There's also an anti-pasti bar, and a custom pasta bar. The food is just delicious, and unfortunately I end up being stuffed every time I eat here because it's so great. Highlights: thin crust pizza, meat on skewers, roasted pineapple, desert pizza. They very nice chilled and not overbearing live music playing there in the evenings (not sure if it's every day or not). One of the most amazing things about this place is that it's huge, and never full from my experience. So you can get in with no wait time. show more
Trish at Bean Sprout has a great eye for gorgeous, interesting (but not weird) kids' clothing. It's pricier than the mall but not ridiculous - I shop there for special occasions (I got GORGEOUS dresses for my girl to wear to my sister-in-law's wedding) and I shop the clearance rack. show more
The Mount Pleasant branch is a teeny tiny library - really too small to be useful for browsing adult books, but they have a good selection of picture books. This is a great library for young families because it is so small and convenient. They also run plenty of baby and toddler programs (for free). Also the bathrooms are great. show more
