An awesome local destination for Metaphysical Stones & Gems. Bead Heaven has a great selection of Chakra Stone sets and Chakra Jewelry. If you love stones it a great place to browse and enjoy being around their energy.

Bead Heaven is a Chem-free space, Sage is used to cleanse the air and so the shop often is fragranced like sage. It's good to come free from perfumes, colognes, lotions, and other fragranced products.

Great place to support local food producers. A better way to spend some of your grocery money.

beautiful organic foods: bread, veggies, meat... the building is gorgeous. we had a great time walking around in the morning. there's a really cute kids park outside and at the other side of the grounds they have an open dog parkette.

Andrew is a no-nonsense tarot reader who has been working in the community for 6 years or so. He's also my hubby so I guess I'm not impartial. The Hermit's Lamp is a bright sunny space that is great to get a reading or just browse the yummy organic incense and other goodies. show more

i had a great meal here the other day, ordering 3 appetizers, and then switching back and forth between all of them, at a loss for which was most delicious and which i wanted to linger on my palate! I had Khao Tom Ping (coconut sticky rice in banana leaves) (WOW!), Satays (marinated chicken in a light coconut curry sauce served on a skewer)(V TENDER!), Nam Dip (Lanna salad rolls wrapped in rice paper). I loved the peanut sauce. Oooh peanut sauce! ) show more

i tried the tacos and granted i let them get cold and reheated them in the micro when i got home, with the beans and rice tossed on they made for pretty good eats. always in search for good take-out options, i'll go back and try the tortilla soup and ceviche that ann-marie recommends! show more

Pleasant brunch spot, nice decor, good-quality food, not too pricey, and portions are a good size not oversize.

Indeed. These are some yummy cupcakes. Not skimpy on the icing.

I won't dispute the quality of Patachou's croissants. Further to that, they have an excellent selection of sweets. I'm definitely a fan. I have to be honest though. I posted my vote for Pain Perdu's croissants just East of here. I'd recommend that those wanting to visit should just try both. You be the judge. show more

I agree with Deirdre. These cupcakes are pricey but these are created with such fresh, unique flavours that it's worth the treat once in a while. We've been fans since the Cupcakery opened. It's a smart looking establishment to boot!

The croissants at Pain Perdu rival the best in the city. I am actually *thankful* that I can get to this place by foot or bike. The weekend morning rush gets busy. Call ahead to place your order for Mother or Father's Day. It's also a nice cosy place to have cup of coffee and read while the staff bake throughout the day. They also prefer to be addressed in French so here's your chance to put your bilingual skills to work in T.O.! This is a must visit place if you're on the St. Clair West stretch. show more

I've had a chance to try a few things on The Stockyards' menu, all prepared in their hand made smoker out back. The smokey smell that crawls to the street will draw you in when you walk by. This is not a light meal by any stretch! You will leave there with your stomach full! Not bad value either but I wouldn't call it inexpensive. Lunch and a soda will set you back over $12. I will go back for sure just try more of their fare. The make their fresh lemonades and limeades there as well. While I'm all for healthy eating, it's nice to see BBQ establishments such as the Stockyards make their way back into our foodie culture here. show more

so my parisian friend, Brigitte, spent a year as an orthopaedic fellow in toronto and spent saturday mornings with a friend doing the tour of the city's patisseries in search of the best croissants... she claimed to have found them at patachou!

This is a decent local business but they do not fix leather shoes (boots, etc). I think they may fix sandals. Best to call before you go to make sure they offer the service you need.

Community hub. Expensive but interesting farmers market on Saturday mornings. My kids love the sandbox with the water tap in the middle of it. Feels like an urban beach for kids in there. The playground is too sunny (bring sun glasses) but my kids like it because it's more challenging than most playgrounds in the neighbourhood. Skating rink in the winter is awesome (regular rink plus a long winding path made of ice. Really nice community dinners there to support the Stop food bank. show more

This is the best library I've found in Toronto. It's very small but you can order from any where in the city. The librarians know everyone there, and make a point of saying hi to all of the kids. The children's program "Ready for Reading" is excellent at this location. show more

in my opinion, the best thai food in the city and completely affordable! if you know kingston's wok inn and phnom pehn, you'll recognize the menu - the chef was trained by the guy from kingston. nady, the owner, is lovely and friendly. bring your own tupperware (for take-out) to green-it-up. show more

The cupcakes are not cheap but they are very tasty. You can call and order baby ones for a kid's party. They all come in a lovely bag so they are perfect for bringing to someone's house for dessert when you don't have time to bake (who does?). show more
