The Big Ragu
Hmmm. The kitchen (and perhaps ownership) seems to have changed hands. The hearty, home cooked meals are gone. They've been replaced by a confusing set of dishes that have no connection to the Big Ragu's original appeal. Something is amiss and it's making this place slide. show more

this new spot on st clair has really found its groove. nice ambiance, relaxed decor, great food, and really sweet spot for a drink, too. try the amaretto sour - yum yum!
This tip is a response to Where do you like going out for a drink?
A tasty, authentic Mexican dining experience. Decor and presentation is 'no frills' but the eats are tops. No beer/wine, which is too bad. Entertainment comes courtesy of a domineering TV that shows soap operas in Spanish, which may occasionally be inappropriate for young/impressionable diners. Take out remains a delicious option. show more
Despite the St. Clair renewal, with new businesses popping up weekly, this is among the classic Italian restaurants in Corso that has endured time. This is not a dated establishment though. It has a really vibrant dinner scene on peak nights. Fans and locals visit this place with some regularity. The sign may not jump out at you when you walk by but have a peek through the window. Plates line the walls and the tables are tightly packed. It's a cozy place with tons of character and very good food.I have to admit that I've only had the prix fixe menu here so I need to visit again to get a bigger picture of what La Bruschetta truly has to offer. The food and wine was most enjoyable though so I will certainly go again. Dinner and wine for two will set you back $100 + for a full course meal. The vibe here invites you to spend 2.5 hours for dinner though so it's a pleasant place to linger before walking it off on the stretch. show more
Tre Mari has an unassuming look about it but make no mistake! This place has so much to offer. I gravitate to the breads, fresh pizza dough ($1.85!) when we want to make our own, and Portuguese desserts. The almond cookies and mini chocolate mousse cakes are top notch and addictive. The cafe area fills up constantly so it has a hustle & bustle feel about it. This is among the classic local haunts in Corso. show more
I haven't had a chance to check out this bar and resto in the evening yet. It's quite vibrant at night with local Brazilians descending on it. An excellent patio takes the energy outside and they have a very pleasant kitchen on top of that. I've been able to pop in for lunch though. Grilled salmon with the most buttery mash potatoes in a caper cream sauce and a salad on the side was $10 and fed two. Excellent value! Nicely renovated so it feels comfortable. show more
in my opinion, the best thai food in the city and completely affordable! if you know kingston's wok inn and phnom pehn, you'll recognize the menu - the chef was trained by the guy from kingston. nady, the owner, is lovely and friendly. bring your own tupperware (for take-out) to green-it-up. show more
The cupcakes are not cheap but they are very tasty. You can call and order baby ones for a kid's party. They all come in a lovely bag so they are perfect for bringing to someone's house for dessert when you don't have time to bake (who does?). show more
Enzo runs this restaurant with his partner, landlord Michael. Enzo grew up in the area and really wanted to create a place that would add to our neighbourhood. The food is good and reasonably priced and very family friendly. Zo also sponsor's a student of the month at the local public schools and the student gets a free pizza if they win. The decor is fine but a little too warehouse-like but if you ignore that bit and let Enzo's mum welcome you into their restaurant I know you will love it! show more
We love this place. Livia runs a fantastic kid's program that my five year old son loves. She really knows how to program yoga so it's appealing to an active child. Each week there is a new craft - all environmentally sensitive, for example making their own hand cream etc. The adult classes are great as well. They have a 30$ for 30 day trial run for people new to the centre. It's locally owned and we love it! show more
**Fun place despite the wait and being busy.** It's a hustle n' bustle breakfast joint with good quality food. Guaranteed line-up for the weekend brunch set but still worth the wait. If you get there before 9:00 you get early bird pricing on breakfast and can likely just walk in a sit down. A good set of food and drink options should please most. The smoothies are great too. I believe the pricing is fair, though on the high side. My personal preference is for the the more elegant and subdued Regal Bistro across the street, but Boom is still a pleaser for sure. show more
